You have thought about camping, but maybe your last experience was a Scouts/Girl Guides weekend away when you were 12 years old! This always happens when in a rush and it is starting to get dark, blowing a gale, or tipping it down!

I’ve taken this tent out a couple of times now and have been very impressed with how easy it is to set up and how rugged it is in rough weather! During the night, the temp went from warm, in the evening, to quite cold, in the middle of the night. The Backpacker took me around 10-15 minutes to set up, as It was the first time I pitched this tent (or even took it out of it's bag for that matter) and read the instructions, like a good little boy. The moisture was building up a little on the inside of the tent, but it was building up even more on the inside of my sleeping bag LOL.I am 5ft 2inches and can crouch well, but found it uncomfortable to sit upright whilst sitting out a rainstorm. The only gripe I really have is that the height of the taller end of the tent(entrance end), is just slightly too low. One feature I love is the ability to raise the outser shell before the inner, this means you can pitch this tent in the rain without too much fuss. This post is all about my first tent for cycle touring and why I think this cheap little tent (and many alternatives out there) is a great starting point.

Yes, there are tents that are a bit lighter, employ better quality materials and have a few more bells and whistles, and for that reason, I have given this product four stars. The new and improved Backpacker Deluxe tent from Eurohike is the ideal outdoor shelter for a couple who enjoy trekking and hiking together. The groundsheet is pretty bog standard but unless actually pitching in a puddle it should hold up pretty well. My warning though is about the fibreglass poles - they splinter with age/use and my husband still has a large splinter in his finger from our last hike in May last year! Low and angled down enough to take strong winds with ease, you loose out on headroom but its no problem getting changed inside. My sister was kind enough to let me pitch in her garden, as I we had arranged to head over the local nature reserve, to see if we could find any tracks, and maybe take a few photos, but that's another story. If you wanted to use your space a little better, you could ditch the bag, fold the inner and fly, so they fit in the top of your pack, and slip the poles down the back or side of your pack inside. Even with it's 'low spec' it's never leaked and the low profile means it's okay in windy conditions. If you have used this product please leave a review, or your comments for other visitors, many thanks! The fully waterproof and breathable fabric construction maintains a comfortable climate within the tent while the fibreglass frame works to maximise interior space.
